Expectations of a King (1 Samuel 8)

Expectations are necessary and good when properly placed. The challenge we often run into is when we place expectations on persons and things that cannot bear the weight of our expectations. Through the story of Israel asking for a king in 1st Samuel 8, Pastor Derrick shows us that in God we have a king who can bear the weight of our deepest expectations. In contrast, other “kings” will inevitably disappoint us when they cannot live up to our expectations.
