Forgoing Liberties for the Sake of My Sibling (1st Cor. 8)

by

Culturally, we are inclined to view ethics in a binary manner. We deem practices as either right or wrong. While this approach may allow for a simplified means of discipleship, it is a remarkably unrealistic approach to the Christian life. Manner matters are not black vs. white; they may be varying shades of gray. With this in mind, Pastor Brandon addresses the biblical view of Christian liberties. He contends that the legitimacy of a practice does not necessarily mean that a believer should not consider the implications of said practice. If a liberty may cause my Christian brother to stumble, I should apply remarkable care in its fulfillment; even to the point of forgoing the liberty!
