Sacred Space

September 29, 2013 @ 10:00 am - 4:00 pm

Several Sundays a year in lieu of our regular 10:00 AM worship gathering, The Embassy Church gathers to worship God in the community by doing a Sacred Space outreach event. We will serve our community and, by God’s grace, bring restoration to that which is broken. This is one of the ways we make God famous – showing that all of His creation is sacred.  Join us as we serve.

DETAILS:
We will meet in the parking lot of Cole Arts & Sciences at 10 AM to prepare for the trip and share a meal that will be provided by The Embassy. After eating and praying for our time, we will depart for Boulder promptly at 11:30am. We will be caravanning to Rocky Mountain Christian Church, 9447 Niwot Road, Niwot, CO 80503. Orientation with Samaritan’s Purse will begin there at 12:30pm. The work day in Boulder will conclude at ~ 4:30pm

WHAT TO WEAR:
We will be doing work that will leave us muddy, dirty, and possibly smelly. Samaritan’s Purse will provide a T-shirt upon arrival. Please wear long pants, rubber boots, sturdy work boots or shoes with thick soles. No open toed shoes.

FOOD:
We will eat before we roll out to Boulder. We will also provide bottled water for the trip.

TRANSPORTATION TO BOULDER:
We will have at least one van available to assist in transporting some of our crew up to Boulder. Van(s) will depart from and return to the parking lot at Cole.

PAPERWORK:
Please complete the pertinent forms in this document. All volunteers need to complete the necessary waivers and release forms PRIOR to our arrival in Boulder. You will not be allowed to work on this project without completing these forms.

TOOLS:
Bring work gloves if you have them. Samaritan’s Purse will have some but they are standard sized – so for those with non-standard hands, you might want to bring your own. Any other tools will be provided by Samaritan’s Purse.

YOUTH POLICY:
Age Requirements & Forms – Team members must be 14 years of age or older at the time they serve.  If 14 or 15 years old, a parent/legal guardian must work with the child on site (unless they are part of a Youth Group).  Team members 16 or 17 years of age do not need a parent present but should be assigned an adult chaperone from their team (unless they are part of a Youth Group).  Each youth must have at least one parent sign a Volunteer Release and Waiver of Liability – Youth form and a Youth Volunteer Emergency Contact and Medical Information form. If the parent will not be accompanying his/her child, the parent signature must be notarized.  A youth who arrives on site without these forms will be sent home at his/her own expense. No exceptions.

Adult/Youth Policy – An adult may never be alone with a youth in a one-on-one situation at any time unless the adult is a parent or legal guardian. This includes youth who are serving as volunteers, youth who are participating in church activities, and youth who are residents of the home or neighborhood in which you are serving. Youth should never be left alone at a work site or be allowed to leave the site without parent/legal guardian/chaperone/youth leader.

Please be sure to view this document, then print off and complete the required forms for serving with Samaritan’s Purse. Bring the completed and signed forms with you on Sunday morning and we will collect them before we leave for Boulder.
